Once you have completed your evaluation, the next step is implementation. Your findings are most valuable when they lead to concrete action, whether that means redesigning a care pathway, making the case for change to your team, or connecting with others doing the same work.
- Review our worked examples of care pathway assessments in the resources section to discover practical implementation ideas that can be adapted for your own setting. Each example includes a summary of the changes made and the estimated carbon savings achieved, so you can identify approaches most relevant to your context.
- Prioritise your findings by impact and feasibility. Not everything needs to change at once. Identify one or two high-impact areas where change is realistic in the short term, and use your assessment data to build the case with your team or management.
- Involve your wider team early. Sustainable change in clinical settings depends on buy-in from colleagues across the pathway – from admin and nursing staff to allied health professionals and procurement leads. Share your findings in a team meeting or governance forum to start the conversation.
- Consider sharing your findings within the sustainable care pathways community of practice. Our community, hosted on LinkedIn, brings together stakehodlers from across the sector. Posting your results, however preliminary, helps build the collective evidence base and may connect you with others tackling similar challenges.
